Planning for a successful family photo session can get overwhelming. But I don’t want you to feel this way, which is why I’m writing this blog. Being informed is everything!
Prepare your Kids
My number one tip for a successful Family Photo Session, if you have young children, is to prepare your kids. Talk to them ahead of time and explain to them that you are going to meet a friend at a park where she will be taking pictures for us. Tell them that it will be fun because she likes to play games and you get to have fun. Make sure you plan something fun for the family after the session that they can look forward to. Make sure they are well rested and fed. Bring dry snacks to use during the session as needed. www.soniahuertas.com
Stay connected
Another very important tip is to be and stay connected with your family through the whole session. Hold hands, kiss your love ones, tickle the little ones, play with your kids hair and smile smile smile! Never stop smiling even when the kids are acting crazy. Kids will be kids, they don’t like to stay still, they just like to move, play and explore their surroundings. Just smile and go with the flow. Stay together and join in their little adventure and I will catch their attention and grab those connections in your family. https://www.instagram.com/sonia_huertas_photography
Choose your outfits well
One last tip I have for a successful family photo session is to choose the right outfits. The best tones for outdoor photography are neutral, and earthy tones because they always photograph well. Playing with textures is also a great element to add to your session. All the information for outfits, when you book a session with me, is in my Family Guide. Here I give you more details on choosing outfits and I even have the beginnings of a Client Closet where you can borrow different pieces for your session like the dress my client wore from this blog. Picking and coordinating your family outfits is essential, but you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here for you if you need me. Just a phone call or text away!
And lastly arrive to the location 10-15 minutes earlier than your scheduled session. Allow yourself ample time so your kids don’t feel rushed and give them that little extra time to wake up if they fell asleep in the car ride.
